DAVID FARLAND writer
Dave Wolverton has worked in a number of writerly occupations: as a butcher, a prison guard, missionary, editor, contest administrator, college writing instructor, video game designer and scripter, movie producer, and pie maker.
Currently, he is writing novels full-time. Under his real name, Dave Wolverton, he is a New York Times Best Selling author in science fiction. Under his pseudonym David Farland, he is a New York Times Best Selling author of fantasy.
He has won awards for his genre fiction, but has also won awards for his mainstream fiction and poetry.
He works in a number of media. In addition to novels and short stories, he has also written screenplays, developed a comic book series, and designed and scripted video games.
In addition to working in different genres and media, he also likes to write for different age groups. He has written more than a dozen adult novels, but also has written more than two dozen young adult and middle-grade books.
His upcoming novels include the young adult novel "The Wizard of Ooze," which is slated for release from Covenant Books in August of 2006, and "Son of the Oak," the fifth book in his popular "Runelords" series, slated for release in October/November from Tor books. Both of these novels will be under the David Farland pen name.
He loves the outdoors and counts fishing and camping among his favorite activities. He was born and raised in Oregon, but currently lives in southern Utah with his wife and children.
